We’re experimenting with a new online feature, a weekly podcast about news, media and politics in Orange County.

In this inaugural episode, we talk with former Daily Titan editor Samuel Mountjoy about a recent editorial criticizing Cal State Fullerton’s media relations arm for creating a difficult environment for student reporters.

Voice of OC editor David Washburn, senior writer Tracy Wood, and reporter Thy Vo also talk about reactions to the Daily Titan editorial, and their own experiences with the media gatekeepers in other government agencies.

We’re still working out the kinks of the podcast, so please let us know what you think in the comment section below and feel free to suggest future topics.
