Voice of OC: Series on Veterans Memorial Plaques at Heroes Hall

Voice of OC has published a series in our opinion section of some of Orange County’s most notable veterans who received the highest honors the U.S. military bestows on soldiers for their heroic actions in combat. Plaques honoring these individuals are showcased at Heroes Hall at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Residents Clean Neglected County War Memorial

When Orange County’s Walk of Honor debuted in 1998, the memorial was intended to show that war heroes are far from forgotten. Instead, even the politicians in charge of maintaining it agree the memorial has become a walk of shame.

Walk of Honor Condition Shameful to Chriss Street

The county’s treasurer/tax collector cites the memorial wall as an example of county’s inability to deal with homeless crisis and manage civic center buildings. He wants to do something about it before he leaves office at year’s end.
